Bedford Vehicles, or simply Bedford, was a brand of car produced by Vauxhall Motors, a division of the global business General Motors at the time. Bedford Vehicles was founded in April 1931 with the goal of producing commercial vehicles. With significant export sales of light, medium, and heavy lorries all over the world, the firm was a leading worldwide lorry brand.
General Motors (GM) sold Bedford’s primary heavy truck business to AWD Trucks in 1987, although the Bedford name was kept on light commercial vehicles and car-derived vans based on Vauxhall/Opel, Isuzu, and Suzuki designs. In 1991, the brand was phased out.
Following Vauxhall’s takeover by PSA Group in 2017, Stellantis currently owns and operates the Bedford van production plant, now known as GM Manufacturing Luton.
