Landwind is a car brand owned by Jiangling Motor Holding, a Chinese carmaker (JMH). Jiangxi Guokong Automotive Investment Corporation, Jiangling Motors Corporation Group, and Changan Automobile have formed a joint venture.
Landwind began in 1998, when Sun Min, the then-chairman of JMCG, founded Jiangling Lufeng (Landwind) Automobile Co., Ltd.
His goal was to establish an independent nameplate that would allow JMCG to focus on its own technical development rather than relying on Ford and Isuzu. While Lufeng would design the cars, they would be manufactured on Isuzu’s production lines. The idea was finally shelved due to Ford’s opposition.
Landwinds were on the market by 2002, and Jiangling Motor Holding revived the brand in November 2004.
