Step-by-Step Guide to Changing the Oil Filter in a Nissan Qashqai (J10 Series)
Step 1: Begin by opening the hood of your Nissan Qashqai.
Step 2: Loosen and remove the oil filler cap for better airflow.
Step 3: Pour the recommended engine flush into the engine.
Step 4: Securely replace the oil filler cap.
Step 5: Start your Qashqai’s engine and let it idle for 15 minutes before shutting it off.
Step 6: Safely elevate the vehicle either with a jack or by positioning it over an inspection pit. Ensure the vehicle remains level.
Step 7: Loosen the fasteners holding the oil pan’s lower cover.
Step 8: Gently remove the oil pan cover. Utilize a #10 socket and a flat screwdriver if needed.
Step 9: Place a container with a minimum 5-liter capacity beneath the oil drain plug.
Step 10: Use a no.19 socket or ring spanner to unscrew the drain plug.
Step 11: Allow all the old oil to drain out into the container.
Step 12: Position the container directly beneath the oil filter.
Step 13: Use a 65/67-14f socket to unscrew and remove the oil filter.
Step 14: Dispose of the old oil filter by placing it in a dedicated container.
Step 15: Ensure the oil filter seating area is thoroughly cleaned.
Step 16: Also, clean around the oil pan’s drainage hole.
Step 17: Insert a new drain plug and secure it with a torque of 34 nm using a torque wrench.
Step 18: Apply a slight coat of new engine oil to the rubber seal of the new oil filter.
Step 19: Hand-tighten the new oil filter in its position and then further tighten it to 18 nm torque using a torque wrench and the 65/67-14f socket.
Step 20: Reposition the oil pan’s lower cover.
Step 21: Tighten all fasteners on the oil pan’s lower cover.
Step 22: Remove the oil filler cap once again.
Step 23: Place a funnel into the opening.
Step 24: Pour in 4.3 liters of the manufacturer-recommended oil into the engine.
Step 25: Securely tighten the oil filler cap. Afterward, check the oil level with a dipstick, adjusting if necessary.
Step 26: Run the engine briefly. Once the oil pressure light deactivates, turn off the engine.
Step 27: After 5 minutes, recheck the oil level with the dipstick, adding oil if needed.
Step 28: Finally, shut the hood, ensuring it’s securely latched.
